Your Guide to Cosmetic Fillers

What Are Fillers

What exactly are fillers? They have many names - Fillers, costmetic fillers, dermal fillers, injections, dermal injections. Fillers are substances that perform like collagen or fat when they are injected under the skin. Almost miraculously, saggy, flabby facial skin looks lifted and quite literally, full of life once dermal fillers are injected. Fillers provide plumpness to the specific area in question and this can lead to a more supple, youthful appearance. They are usually in gel form and are comprised of natural ingredients or synthetic ingredients. These ingredients can include the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), as well as the synthetic Poly-L-Lactic acid and Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA).

How Do Fillers Work

True to the name, fillers actually “fill in” or “fill up” wrinkles, lines, and/or hollow spaces under the skin. Fillers, also referred to as dermal filler or cosmetic fillers interchangeably, are injected into the skin (dermis). The depth of the injection along with the amount of filler used can create a subtle change or a more dramatic evolve of the face. Used in various locations on the face, fillers actually give a smoother surface appearance to the skin. Fillers firm the skin texture also. Wrinkles are diminished and lines are stretched away by the volume given by fillers. Results are known to last typically six months to a year, depending on variables such as severity of wrinkles and lines, as well as the amount of filler used.

Who Are Fillers Good For

The services of injectable fillers are widely used by women but they are not limited to women. Men and women, over the age of 21 alike, have the option to make the personal improvement with the benefits and perks of obtaining a filler for younger looking skin. Of course, each candidate will consult with their own physician to ascertain the benefits and risks of cosmetic fillers. The administer of such fillers should only be entrusted to a licensed health care provider.

A cosmetic filler provides a great temporary fix for a wide range of face and skin imperfections. In some cases, even the hands are treated to restore a younger appearance to the skin there. The injection procedure itself does not require a great deal of time and recovery time is not equated to total downtime. Fillers can be injected in the confines of the aesthetic doctor’s office. Clients are then free to go out and about almost immediately. Active recovery puts the client back at the helm of his/her life. In this society of micro-instant gratification, a little injection requires very little time relatively speaking. Of course, with the fact that skin is punctured during the injection process, there will be a level of soreness, and possibly some redness and/or slight discoloration at or around the injection site. These symptoms usually dissipate within a few days. However, individuals who want facial enhancement without the complication and downtime of a full-blown surgery often turn to cosmetic fillers. The option of injectables or dermal fillers significantly reduces or even eliminates downtime, when exercised.

Rejuv Medspa An Excellent Choice

It is important to be diligent when selecting a cosmetic filler facility. Because the skin is the body’s first line of defense against exterior bacteria, the facility selected should focus on safety and sanitary conditions before, during, and after injectables are administered. Experience and skill should also be taken into consideration, as well as, reviews and success stories of former clients. Trust is not to be taken lightly, especially as it relates to care of the skin. The staff at Rejuv Medspa understands how important it is to protect the skin and handle it properly while dermal fillers are implemented. The skilled staff works painstakingly to adhere to practices that will ensure the safety of each client and provide beautiful long lasting results.

Rejuv Medspa has taken great care to offer many choices for aesthetic improvements in different areas of the face. Within these choices, there are four treatments that serve as the backbone of our injectable products. They are Juvederm xc, Volbella xc, Kybella, and Botox. The following information hones in on the highlights and benefits of each procedure injectable type.

Juvederm XC

This procedure utilizes the natural substance of hyaluronic acid (HA). It is very absorbable by the body, as HA is found in the body. Juvederm xc is used for correction of the cheek area and also the area of lines around the mouth known as parentheses lines. Even a conservative amount of the Juvederm xc makes the difference between looking older with wrinkles and looking younger, smoother and healthier.

Volbella XC

If one is interested in adding a plumper, more kissable factor to thin, wrinkled, or severely lined lips, the Volbella xc is the correct filler to do so. It is also fueled by hyaluronic acid (HA) and it adds an overall fuller look to each lip treated. Although immediate results are visible after the injection, additional time gives the filler time to spread evenly throughout the area of each lip. Any initial swelling and redness dissipate also, leaving only the enhanced mouth. A very natural looking enhancement, Volbella xc injections can last a significant amount of time. Treatment results can actually be maintained without touch-up procedures for up to a total of 12 months.

Kybella

Kybella injections focus on the actual destruction of fat cells in the lower chin area where a “double chin” would be located on an individual. With the active ingredient synthetic deoxycholic acid, the focus of Kybella is to reduce and break down the fat cells to the point that they can not grow back. A total treatment regimen is series of about six evenly spaced injections over the course of four to six months. Kybella injections reshape the chin area and the lowermost portion of the jawline as each injection targets and break down the fat. Over the course of the prescribed timeline for injections, the affected area becomes more sculpted and pronounced. The results give a slimmer look to the lower facial area and make for a more attractive profile. Kybella alleviates the “turkey gobbler” appearance of hanging skin under the chin. The focus is to reduce as opposed to “filling in” or making the area in question appear to have more volume. Kybella is almost an opposite to its HA counterparts.

Botox

Botox injections are specifically purposed for frown lines, forehead lines, and the tiny crow’s feet wrinkles around the delicate area of the eyes. Botox, which is a different type of dermal filler, operates by interfering with and stopping the movement of small muscles that cause culprit lines and wrinkles in the face. This results in a smoother appearance because the muscle and skin of the affected area are being kept still. This powerful injection is actually a drug made from a toxin. The toxin comes from Clostridium botulinum which is a bacterium. With continued use of Botox, the injected facial muscles basically start to lose some of their movement due to a lack of use. It is the whole “use it or lose it” concept at work.
