CoolSculpting, or Cryolipolysis, is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses ice cold temperatures to reduce undesirable body fat. The procedure was initially tested in 2008 and gained FDA approval in 2010. Since its approval, it has soared in popularity as one of the safest and most-effective non-invasive fat-removal procedures available. The pain-free process requires the calculated reduction of temperature to as low as 4 degrees Celsius on localized areas that typically build fat. What is an even more impressive testament to this innovative treatment is that it works for people of all shapes and sizes.
CoolSculpting is the Safest Non-Invasive Body Contouring Method
As previously mentioned, CoolSculpting received FDA approval in 2010 after rigorous scientific studies were done to test its effectiveness and safety. This method of body contouring clearly boasts the benefits of safety in that it does not require anesthetic, surgery, or ingestion of medication. The short recovery period averages out to about seven days in duration. The minimal side-effects, also lasting a week or less, are possible numbness and light bruising. Other non-invasive procedures new to the body contouring scene, like high-intensity focused ultrasound, may produce tenderness and massive bruising that lasts twice as long. Short-term side-effects are minimal; although the procedure is relatively new, researchers have no reason to believe there are associated long-term side-effects.
The Science Behind CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting’s mechanism of action lies in the basic premise that exposure to extremely cold temperatures leads to the death of fat cells. Fat cells that accumulate towards the surface of the body in stubborn areas many are familiar with, like the stomach, hips, or buttocks, will initially become inflamed. The body responds to this as though it is an injury and mono-nuclear cell bodies surround and digest the fat cells. By the end of this process, the body comes out with reduced fat and smoother curves.
How Soon Will You See Results?
Everybody is different, so it may take more or less the average time for you to see the results of CoolSculpting. As mentioned previously, the recovery period will last seven days or less but the fat-loss results are not as immediate. The body could go through the process of breaking down and digesting the fat cells for as few as three or as long as four months before the recipient sees results. The speed of fat reduction will vary depending on what areas you focus on and how fast your body goes through this process.
